Mental Health

Of the four Foundational Accelerators that can boost your self-improvement journey, proactively working on your mental health is often the one that is least front of mind (no pun intended). However, the benefits of making small changes and keeping new routines going are huge. Whether it’s being actively mindful, meditating, breathwork exercises or cold water therapy like ice baths, the benefits of bringing these practices into your self-improvement journey will create physical and emotional states that are very supportive of the application of self-improvement knowledge.

For example, I find when I’m travelling and I don’t have access to a more permanent cold plunge set up, throwing a few jugs of ice from the hotel ice machine into a cold water bath generally gets the temp down to 50-60 degrees which is enough to interrupt the breathing cycle and engage the nervous system. It’s no ice plunge, but the 10 minute dunk does provide a few minutes of breathwork, by regulating my breathing after getting in, followed by around 8 minutes of meditation and continued breathing exercises. In my opinion, there is no better way to start the day, especially when I’m working on growth and self-improvement. I find that the calmness, clear mind and clarity of thought build a foundation that allows the knowledge I am acquiring the best chance of success. Mind, body and spirit aligned.

There are countless areas you can invest into but the bottom line is, as with any of the foundational accelerators, there are also a host of no cost / or low cost options to get you started. It’s exactly how I started. For example, for sleep make the decision to go to bed earlier and work towards getting 8 hours sleep, for hydration drink a load more water and be consistent, for nutrition cut out added sugar and white carbs to begin with, for movement, well, just move more and for your mental health learn how to breath from your belly, download a free guided mention app and throw a few bags of ice in your bath tub. But for those that are already at that point, or just prefer to invest time and money into further accelerating their growth, there are countless ways to do that, some of which are listed below.

To help you decide how to progress, we'd like to be super transparent in two areas, Firstly, we at Snackable Self-Help don’t review all the products listed below. That’s not what Snackable Self-Help does. Snackable Self-Help was established to help you connect the concept of achieving better and faster results in your self-improvement journey by becoming more aware of the physical and emotional ‘foundational accelerators’. And, how improvements in these four areas can fast track your self-improvement while sustaining those new levels. Instead, we have selected the brands and products that, in our opinion, have the best fit while having the best reviews from a ton of happy customers. Secondly, to ensure we can continue investing into Snackable Self-Help, whether that be publishing the books, providing the website, or authoring new and relevant content, I do receive a small affiliate commission from the vendors noted below when purchases are made, but that cost is not passed on to you as the customer.
